We are extremely proud to introduce our local farmers! We’ve met with them in their homes, in their fields or in their greenhouses, surrounded by their flowers, plants, fruits and vegetables. Here is an introduction to these dynamic entrepreneurs who manage these modern small and medium sized businesses, day in and day out. They do it with courage and passion so we can benefit by filling our baskets with wonderful, fresh products from right here in Québec!
Every summer from late June to late September, we invite you to come and meet our chefs while they prepare and cook the latest arrivals of the summer season and answer all your questions. These culinary presentations are offered at the Atwater and Jean-Talon markets, by several accomplished chefs, under the leadership of our resident chef and ambassador of the markets, Nicole-Anne Gagnon, where they prepare an array of delicious recipes. Discover new and tantalizing ways to prepare the tasty ingredients that are available at the markets during this period!
When Mother Nature’s good weather and sunshine return in the spring, jump on the opportunity to put your hands in the soil and create a beautiful flower bed or grow a vegetable garden! At the public markets, the horticultural producers are ready to welcome you and provide you with flowers, plants and herbs of all kinds! In this section, you’ll find advice from the author Yves Gagnon, owner of Les Jardins du Grand-Portage, to create an urban garden in 3 steps. Success and fun is guaranteed!
Why not ride your bike to the market? We’ve improved our facilities to better accommodate cyclists. There are many more places to park your bikes, making it more convenient to get where you want to go. Follow our suggestions “Biking 101-201-301” to get the most out of your bike excursions.
Calling all microbrew beer lovers! Don’t miss the traditional Octoberfest at Atwater Market every year at the beginning of October. There are free tastings in a pleasant ambience, and it’s a good time to make new discoveries. The market is full of fall fruits and vegetables, so take the opportunity to get your fill!
