Maple Syrup Dumplings (Grands-Pères), Desserts et collations

  • A special for sugaring off time!


    • 2 cups (500 ml) white flour
    • 2 tbsp. (25 ml) sugar
    • 4 tsp. (20 ml) baking powder
    • ½ tsp. (3 ml) salt
    • 1/3 cup (75 ml) softened butter or margarine
    • 1 cup (250 ml) milk
    • 1 ¾ cups (440 ml) maple syrup
    • 1 ¾ cups (440 ml) water


    1. Cream the butter and sugar together until smooth, blend in the dry ingredients, then mix in the milk.
    2. Bring the syrup and water to a boil in a large pot with a lid.
    3. Drop spoonfuls of dough, one by one, into the hot syrup, spacing out the spoonfuls so that the dough can swell.
    4. Cover and simmer at medium heat for about 15 minutes, without lifting the lid.
