Fermentation workshop: discovering spicy and umami fermented sauces

The Jean-Talon Market invites you to take part in a free fermentation workshop and discover spicy and umami fermented sauces.
At this workshop, hosted by Ferment, you'll learn about two fascinating worlds of fermentation: hot sauces and umami sauces.
During this 1.5-hour workshop, you will watch a simplified demonstration of how to make homemade hot sauce, while exploring the main principles and key steps involved in fermenting sauces. We will give an overview of the methods used to create artisanal umami sauces and answer your questions.
To complete the experience, you will have the opportunity to taste several examples of hot and umami sauces, and three jars of freshly prepared hot sauce will be raffled off among the participants.
Ferment is a Montreal-based boutique specializing in artisanal fermentation in all its forms. In addition to offering specialized products, we regularly host workshops to teach the basics of fermentation to the curious and the passionate alike. The approach is friendly, accessible and rooted in the pleasure of discovering sustainable, local food practices.
Two 1h30-minute sessions are offered:
