Maple cake in can

The Maple season has begun! Here's a simple cake recipe in the classic maple syrup can. Enjoy the taste of Quebec at its best!
Ingredients

- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon of salt
- 1/4 cup of softened unsalted butter
- 1/2 cup of almond powder
- 2 tablespoons of canola oil
- 2 tablespoons of sugar
- 1 egg
- 1/2 cup of maple syrup
1 can of maple syrup 540ml empty
Maple sauce
- 1/2 cup of 15% or 35% cream
- 1 tsp. cornstarch
- 1/2 cup of maple syrup
Preparation

- Preheat oven to 350°F
- Butter and flour the cane. Line the inside with parchment paper, leaving a 2" overhang.
- In a bowl, combine the flour, baking powder and salt. Set aside for later use.
- In another bowl, combine the butter, almond powder, oil and sugar. Add the egg and stir until the mixture is smooth. Add the dry ingredients alternately with the syrup.
- Pour into the cane. Bake for 50 to 55 minutes on the middle rack, or until a toothpick inserted in the centre of the cane comes out clean.
Leave to cool for 15 minutes and remove from the mould. Leave to cool.
maple sauce
- In a saucepan, whisk together all the ingredients.
- Bring to the boil while stirring and simmer for 30 secondes.
- Pour over the cooled cake.
