Free summer program at Jean-Talon Market !
Once again this year, the Jean-Talon Market, in collaboration with Rosemont-La Petite-Patrie and the Société de Développement Commercial de la Petite Italie, invites visitors of all ages to enjoy a variety of fun educational activities, all absolutely free, every weekend throughout the summer ! This summer program promises to be a lot of fun.
The lively family-oriented program includes cooking and gardening workshops as well as crafts activities and shows, transforming Jean-Talon Market into a destination where you can have fun and learn more about local agriculture and food. Discover all the activities scheduled for June, and don’t forget to register to secure your spot!
When: Every Saturday and Sunday from June 6 to October 20, at various times.
Where: At Jean-Talon Market, in the event zone located northwest of the Market.
In the event zone located north-west of the Market, enthusiastic animators invite you to share their passion through a variety of fun-filled workshops.
All activities are free, but some have limited space. We encourage you to register to guarantee your spot. Children must be always accompanied by parents.
Oktoberfest at Jean-Talon Market

Jean-Talon Market also gets its Oktoberfest!
During this free event, Jean-Talon Market will host some 15 microbreweries with more than 100 craft beer, folk and country bands, and DJs.
To get your Oktoberfest off to a good start, don’t forget to reserve your place in our tasting workshops, where you can sample 4 beers and 3 cheeses for just $15.

DIY zero waste workshop: Tawashi

A 1 hour and 30 minutes workshop from 2pm to 3:30 pm
This workshop, led by le Projet Zéro Déchet, will teach you how to make tawashis, woven cloths inspired by Japanese tradition, to replace synthetic sponges. All materials are provided for the workshop, but if you wish, you can bring your socks with holes in them and discover how to reuse them in a creative and ecological way.

Wine and cider lovers, the Foire des vins et cidres d’ici is back at last! For this third edition at Jean-Talon Market, look forward to an enriched program packed with new features.
During this free event, Jean-Talon Market will play host to some 15 Quebec wineries and cider makers. You’ll also have the chance to feast on the delicious culinary experience presented by chef Clément Boivin’s Cuisine Libre! team, and attend educational workshops by sommelier Kristine Mansuy. DJs will be on hand throughout the weekend.

In the great family of Papillums, those giant butterflies that flutter around festivals here and abroad, Mona belongs to the migratory generation. She’d like to share with you the secrets of preserving her species: milkweed cultivation! Monarch caterpillars can only develop on the leaves of this native plant. So she’ll give a small milkweed seed to any child who helps her plant it and take good care of it.

Workshop for children aged 6 to 12, led by Heureux de Nature. Proudly display your love of fruits and vegetables by representing your favorite on a tote bag!
Inspired by the stalls at the Jean-Talon Market, children start by creating 2 sketches of their chosen fruit and vegetable, which they transfer to fabric before coloring with paint. The words «J’aime» can be added freehand or using a stencil. The perfect bag to do your shopping!
Festiv’été édition piquante

What better way to celebrate summer and hot weather than with a spicy event? Festiv’été is the all-new event that will set the Jean-Talon Market ablaze.
During this free event, Jean-Talon Market will be hosting 15 companies that specialize in spicy sauces and sides and a variety of culinary demonstrations, free of charge and with no registration required. A festive musical atmosphere, a cocktail bar and a hot sauce tasting competition will also warm up the atmosphere.

They’ve created a franchise of independent, professional waitresses from Quebec, offering you “top noche” service. “Life is like a picnic! Place Shamrock, opposite the SAQ, is hosting an ephemeral forest of 30 trees until July 8, to raise public awareness on the importance of planting more trees to combat climate change. This ephemeral forest project is an initiative of the City of Montreal. It is being carried out thanks to the participation of Soverdi and the Regroupement des éco-quartiers.

This strolling show, created and produced by Louve, will be an opportunity to meet Chipotle, whose dream is to become a monarch butterfly and make the long migratory flight to the sanctuary forests of Michoacán, Mexico! Do you think she can make it? To become a beautiful butterfly, Chipotle must eat plenty of milkweed – an indigenous plant essential to the survival of the monarch butterfly. Chipotle will give a milkweed seed to every child she meets, so they can plant it and care for it.
Cap graffiti workshop

Participants in this workshop, led by Café Graffiti, will get to immerse themselves in Montreal’s urban culture. They will be guided by “graffers” who will talk about the history of graffiti in Montreal and different lettering styles. They will first get to create their own ‘’graff’’ (logo) on paper, before drawing it on a ballcap using paint markers, and then will get to take their project home!
