All day long, free activities will enliven the market, including inflatable and giant games, children’s storytelling and traditional dance and music performances!
Free programming
- Children’s storytelling session on the theme of maple syrup
Two sessions: 10 a.m. to 10:25 a.m., then 10:35 a.m. to 11 a.m.
The author-illustrator duo Stéphanie G. Vachon et Fanny Achache will host a storytelling session on the theme of maple syrup. They’ll present their album “L’eau s’est transformée en sirop!” in story form, then interactively explain the various stages in the transformation of water into maple syrup. Using materials from the author’s family sugar shack, as well as live drawings by the illustrator, children will learn more about the steps involved in producing maple syrup, from the sugar bush to the table. - Traditional dance show and entertainment with Tissés Serrés
From 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Come move, learn and share, in a spirit of conviviality and living heritage! Driven by the idea of transmitting intangible heritage, Tissés Serrés plunges participants into the heart of Quebec traditions through dance. From 11 a.m. to 12 p.m., our team invites you to discover traditional Quebec dance in a fun and participatory way. On the program: musician, cuddlers and demonstrations, accessible to all, young and old! - Traditional music show with EspaceTrad

What is a crop of maple syrup
Every spring, when temperatures fluctuate between freezing and thawing, the sap from the maple trees begins to flow, and it’s time for a new crop of maple syrup, the pride of Quebec that everyone awaits so eagerly.
To celebrate this time of year, the Montreal Public Markets have been organizing major festivities since 2022 to showcase the world-renowned expertise of our maple syrup producers! These urban sugar shacks, which come to life for a day in each of our major markets, are an opportunity for many to discover the world of maple without leaving the city.
This event is made possible thanks to the financial participation of the Ville de Montréal and the SDC de la Petite Italie.
