Mission, Vision and Values
Société des Marchés publics de Montréal
A social economy enterprise, the mission of the Société des marchés publics de Montréal is to improve access to fresh produce through a network of public markets that brings Montrealers closer to local producers, market gardeners, retailers, restaurateurs and agri-food artisans.
Since 1993, we have been mandated by the City of Montreal to manage the Atwater Market, the Jean-Talon Market, the Maisonneuve Market, six neighbourhood markets and three solidarity markets. A non-profit organization, our governance is based on a mixed board of directors, composed of five merchants and five residents of the Montreal agglomeration, and includes more than 200 members who commercialize at public markets.
The Montreal Public Markets network is visited by more than three out of four Montrealers and allows, by promoting a short circuit model, to feed the population and offer access to local and quality products all year long, everywhere on the island of Montreal.
