Spiced French Toast with Maple Butter Cream

Ingredients

  • 4 slices bread
  • 60 mL (4 tbsp.) maple sugar
  • 2 mL (1/2 tsp.) cinnamon
  • 2 mL (1/2 tsp.) nutmeg
  • 2 mL (1/2 tsp.) powdered cloves
  • 2 eggs
  • 200 mL (3/4 cup) milk
  • 25 mL (2 tbsp.) butter
  • 125 mL (1/2 cup) maple butter
  • 250 mL (1 cup) 10% cream
  • Maple sugar as garnish

Preparation

  1. Whisk the maple sugar, eggs, milk and spices together.
  2. Dip the bread slices into the mixture, heat the butter in a non-stick pan and fry the bread over low heat, 3 to 4 minutes on each side.
  3. Meanwhile, prepare the maple butter cream by heating the cream and maple butter together until well blended.
  4. Top the French toast with the maple butter cream and sprinkle with maple sugar just before serving.
