Market life

Today, Marché Jean-Talon unveils its 100% free summer program! Every weekend throughout the summer, a new outdoor activity awaits you in the event zone. A simple and fun way to make your visits to the market even more memorable.

More than a market, a destination for learning and fun!

A public market isn't just a place to stock up on fresh, local produce; it's also an opportunity to meet new people, have fun and learn about the agri-food industry. This free summer program is precisely what gives meaning to the idea that going to the market is much more than shopping for groceries. It's also about tasting a new product at a workshop, taking part in a food fair and wandering among the flowers for inspiration.

On the program: cooking workshops for kids, watercolour sessions inspired by the flowers at the market, gardening workshops, lectures on fermentation and more!

The summer season kicks off with La grande journée des petits entrepreneurs on Saturday, June 7 at 10 a.m., a special day designed to inspire, empower and educate school-age youngsters by offering them an entrepreneurial opportunity. Some fifteen of them will be proudly showcasing their original creations and products.

All activities will take place in Marché Jean-Talon's outdoor event zone. This zone is located northwest of the Market (see location on google map).

“Thanks to the commitment of key partners like the borough of Rosemont-La Petite-Patrie, we are proud to enhance our free summer programming, which accompanies you when you come to meet your favorite merchants. Jean-Talon Market has always been a place to meet, discover and share. This summer, whether you want to take part in a culinary or horticultural workshop, or simply enjoy the friendly atmosphere of our terraces, every visit to the market promises to be a memorable experience. More than ever, Jean-Talon Market is a must-see in the Montreal summertime.” - Nicolas Fabien-Ouellet, General Manager, Société des Marchés publics de Montréal

Also, for another year, the pedestrianization of Place-du-Marché-Nord streets returns from June 5 to October 19, 2025, as well as on public holidays, from Thursday to Sunday between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m.

So, are you ready to experience the market differently? On your own, with your family or friends? Registration is now open for the June workshops.

In addition to these workshops, a number of major free events will be added to the program, allowing even more people to immerse themselves in our local food scene and discover the know-how of our local artisans and producers.

Summer 2025 will once again welcome :

  • Festiv'été spicy edition promises to be caliente with local businesses presenting spicy products, as well as a festive program with live music. (July 5)
  • the Foire des vins et cidres d'ici to discover well-known and lesser-known vineyards and cider houses, and to add new bottles to your personal collection (August 9 and 10)
  • Oktoberfest to discover over 100 craft beers, eat great food and enjoy a festive musical atmosphere.
